COVID-19 Social Wellness Activities

In addition to physical and physiological health, quality of life for our seniors is at the forefront of care. We believe you’re never too old to have fun, and that’s why we offer comprehensive programs to enrich the emotional, social, spiritual, physical and educational dimensions of wellness for everyone in our care.

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re keeping our residents engaged in fun enrichment activities while we stay safe at home. Keep reading to learn about all of the fun we’re having!

Celebrating Family Togetherness in a New Way

Family waving while driving.

Residents in our South Atlantic Health Care centers have enjoyed the sounds of those honking their horns, cheering, clapping and seeing loved ones, wave and blow kisses as they drove slowly by. It’s moments like these that warm our hearts and lift our spirits. Here is just a sample of the type of activities our residents enjoy throughout our centers:

  • Drive-by parades to celebrate special occasions
  • Messages and words of wisdom to families/friends and our communities on whiteboards
  • Writing Cards to Loved Ones
  • Window and FaceTime visits with families
  • Outdoor Relaxation
  • Handing out Mother’s Day flowers
  • Zoom and Hallway bingo and other games
  • In-room arts and crafts
  • Coloring contests
  • Balloon tennis
  • Cinco De Mayo Cart and non-alcoholic margaritas
  • Hawaiian Day Drink Cart and Leis
  • Visit from the Easter bunny

Social activity and community engagement are essential ingredients for the well-being and quality of life for seniors. At South Atlantic Health Care (SAHC), we take great pride in creating a full calendar of social activities, so residents have a selection of ways to stay engaged with others and involved in their communities. All SAHC activities are planned and hosted by certified recreational therapists and/or experienced activities professionals. If you’d like to learn more about our social activities, find out how to get involved or get information on becoming a resident, please visit www.sa-hc.com to find a location near you.
